The
Greater Philadelphia Dahlia Society was formed in 1948 and continues promoting
its members' favorite flower.
Throughout its history, the GPDS has been the "home" of several
extremely dedicated and knowledgeable dahlia growers. The membership size,
though constant in the 25-40 range over the years, has been active and
successful, both individually and as a society.
An historical highlight was the hosting of the national show
during the nation's bicentennial celebration in 1976. Hopes are alive
to host the national show again in the not-too-distant future.
Our society's annual show is held each September at where we
believe is the most spectacular of show venues - Longwood Gardens in Kennett
Square, PA.
As the GPDS enters the new century, we wish all a productive
and satisfying relationship with the "flower of flowers".
